Description
The LMP Thunderbolt 3 optical cable uses the latest Thunderbolt technology to deliver great responsivness with data and video/audio transfer at up to 40 Gbps bi-directionally and without having to share bandwidth between connectors. This active optical cable can be used for daisy-chaining multiple Thunderbolt devices. The LMP Thunderbolt 3 optical cable supports PCI Express and DisplayPort (DP Altmode) protocols. It features low latency with highly accurate time synchronization for professional audio and video applications. It uses a USB-C connector/plug, supports 2 lane operation and Thunderbolt 3 full duplex operation. The typical power consumption is 900 mW with operation voltage of 5 V. It can be operated in temperatures of 0~50° C (ambient). There is no Power Delivery through the optical cable. Does not transmit USB-C (USB) signal.

Yes. And the Studio Display's USB-C ports can be used to attach USB peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse. So while the Mac can be positioned in another room and connected via optical Thunderbolt 3 cable, working on the Studio Display is possible. Note that power will not be delivered from the Studio Display to the Mac (no Power Delivery is possible through an optical Thunderbolt cable).
