Description
The name says it all with the LMP USB-C SuperDock: A total of 15 ports leave nothing to be desired in terms of data transfer & connectivity, video & audio, and network connection. And the included 130 W power adapter supplies the MacBook Pro/Air with power via USB-C (Power Delivery 3.0/100 W).
Thanks to the USB-C dual connection to the host as well as the latest video chipsets with support for the DP1.4 standard, up to 2 external monitors can be operated independently (Dual Monitor Support) and at up to 4K@60 Hz (Extended Mode). For dual monitor support, you need to connect one external monitor with HDMI 1 port while the 2nd external monitor can be connected to either one of the HDMI 2, DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort port. Note: MacBook Air/Pro with M1/M2 can only display a single external monitor due the M1/M2's limitation (see specs at apple.com). Good to know for Mac users: Older 24" and 27" Apple LED Cinema Displays can be connected easily too (but not the Apple Thunderbolt Display!).
A great number of USB peripherals can be connected to the SuperDock thanks to the total of 7 USB ports. With one USB-A and 2 USB-C ports, a maximum of 10 Gbps data transfer can be reached; 2 USB-A ports are classic USB 3.0 ports (5 Gbps) and 2 additional USB 2.0 ports are suitable for simple USB devices such as a USB keyboard or mouse. Thanks to BC1.2 recognition, some of the USB ports can also be used to charge and synchronize iPhone or iPad. USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports can be quickly accessed at the front, while permanently connected devices can be connected at the rear with minimal cable clutter on your desktop.
For easy access, a UHS-II SD card reader as well as mircrophone in and audio out ports are located on the front.
A fast and stable network connection can be established via the Gigabit Ethernet port.
An on/off button on the back prevents power consumption while in idle/standby mode. When switched on, the SuperDock delivers the MacBook with power according to Power Delivery 3.0. However, the SuperDock can also be operated with an iMac or Mac mini as the power delivery function will then be automatically switched off.
The LMP USB-C SuperDock also features optical qualities: A high-quality aluminum case, which can be placed horizontally or vertically, fits perfectly into any Mac environment. The aluminum is not only timelessly elegant, but thanks to the integrated cooling fins it's also ideal for dissipating the heat generated inside.
The LMP USB-C SuperDock - super in connectivity and versatility for both portable Mac and desktop Mac.

Basically, you can use only the iMac (27-inch, Late 2009) and iMac (27-inch, Mid 2010) with a Mini-DisplayPort connection with the current Mac with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports. You need a USB-C to Mini-DisplayPort adapter (e.g. 16134/16138, LMP USB-C to Mini-DisplayPort adapter) or a USB-C dock with Mini-DisplayPort port (e.g. 18641/18645/19009, LMP USB-C Travel Dock 4K 9 Port or 17113/17278/18954, LMP USB-C Compact Dock 4K 8 Port or 17116, LMP USB-C Display Dock 4K 10 Port). Then a Mini-DisplayPort to Mini-DisplayPort cable (8305, LMP Mini-DisplayPort to Mini-DisplayPort cable) must be attached to the dock and the iMac.
With iMac (Mid 2011 to Mid 2014), it is possible to use the iMac as monitor with a Thunderbolt connection only. With a newer iMac, a Target Mode with an iMac is not possible anymore.

FAQ Categories: Hardware
It is normal that any USB-C hub or dock becomes hot when attached to the laptop. The aluminum housing is meant to dissipate the heat from the inside to the environment. There is a number of chipsets working on the inside which are producing some heat since they are constantly in a stand-by position to react quickly should any port be used. The surface temperature is well within the allowed limits and reaches about 40°C in stand-by mode, 43°C under normal use and a max. of 48°C when all ports are in full use, CPU load at 100% and PD attached. The heat does neither pose a danger to the laptop or any attached device, nor does it influence the USB-C hub's/dock's performance or even shorten the life-span.
Furthermore, the surface appears to be hotter than it actually is since it is touched with the very senstive fingertips. We suggest to remove the USB-C hub/dock when not needed in order not to emitt unnecessary heat to the environment and not to use any energy.
